Rosier event planned

This Sunday will mark the 27th year the Rosier family, their relatives and friends will organize the annual Celebration of Family & Friends Supporting the Community.

The event will take place from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Comfort Suites, 5409 Plummer Road.

Each year, the Rosier family invites friends and family to join in the open house with holiday treats. They encourage guests to help in supporting those in need in the Hampton Roads community. Each year, guests clear their closets and homes, make new purchases for clothing, clear out their food pantries or purchase extra non-perishable food items to bring to this annual event that supports the local food banks, shelters, transitional programs and facilities throughout Hampton Roads.

This year, representatives from ForKids in Suffolk, Hearts Full of Grace and the Southeastern Foodbank will be on hand to receive many of the donations.

The first year of the celebration was organized by Tiffanie Rosier along with her parents, Eugene and Kay Rosier, in order to pay tribute and thanks to their family, friends and medical staff who supported the family after Tiffanie’s industrial accident in 1992, which left her needing multiple reconstructive surgeries and countless physical therapy sessions to learn how to walk again. The family organizes the event each year by providing food, organizing and decorating as a tribute and act of gratitude to the friends and family they’ve known and the new friends they meet each year. The guests are only asked to bring donations of clothing and non-perishable food items to the event, which are then distributed in the community.

This year, the Rosier Family will host the event with sponsorships provided by Comfort Suites Harbour View, BayPort Credit Union on University Drive, Qdoba in the Janaf area of Norfolk and ViewItDoIt, along with other sponsors.
