Miller makes Dean’s List

D’Andrey Miller of Suffolk, was named to the Fall 2019 University of Kentucky College of Arts & Sciences Dean’s List. During this term, D’Andrey’s academic major was psychology.

More than 1,950 undergraduate students qualified for the Fall 2019 College of Arts and Sciences Dean’s List. Students on the Dean’s List earned 12 or more credit hours as letter grades with a minimum 3.6 GPA for the semester.

 

Hogan named to Dean’s List

Kelly Elizabeth Hogan, from Suffolk, has been named to the Fall 2019 Dean’s List at Wofford College. To be named to the Dean’s List, a student must be enrolled for at least 12 semester hours of graded courses and attain a semester grade point average of 3.6 or higher.

 

Dingle graduates from Harding University

Terrence Dingle, of Suffolk, is one of more than 300 graduates who received a diploma at Harding University’s Fall commencement ceremony on Dec. 14.

Dingle received a Bachelor of Arts in general studies.

University President Bruce D. McLarty presented the diplomas to the graduates.

Harding University is a private Christian university located in Searcy, Arkansas.

 

JMU recognizes graduates

During commencement ceremonies held in December 2019, graduates from James Madison University were recognized for their achievements. The Suffolk graduates are below:

  • Ryan Davenport graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in communication studies.
  • Taylour Davis graduated with a Bachelor of Science in computer science.
  • Katherine Dear graduated with a Master of Education in education.
  • Madison Norton of graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

The top three undergraduate majors were nursing, health sciences and hospitality management. Of the students in graduate programs, 149 received master’s degrees and 16 received doctoral degrees. The top three programs for graduate students were education, physician assistant studies and occupational therapy.

 

Four locals make Dean’s List

The Dean’s List for the fall semester at Bridgewater College has been announced by Dr. Leona A. Sevick, provost and vice president for academic affairs.

Students on the Dean’s List have attained a 3.4 or better grade point average of a possible 4.0.

Bridgewater College is a private, four-year liberal arts college located in the Central Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Founded in 1880, it was the state’s first private, coeducational college. Today, Bridgewater College is home to nearly 1,800 undergraduate students.

The following students from this area have excelled academically:

  • Christopher A. DeFreeuw, a senior majoring in music, from Suffolk (perfect 4.0)
  • Trevor Gillespie-Reigart, a junior majoring in information systems management, from Suffolk
  • Alexandra K. Rose, a senior majoring in business administration, from Smithfield
  • Emilia M. Tumminello, a senior majoring in biology, from Suffolk

 

Parker makes Dean’s List

Madison Parker, a freshman early childhood education major from Suffolk, was among more than 900 Bob Jones University students named to the Fall 2019 Dean’s List.

The Dean’s List recognizes students who earn a 3.0-3.74 grade point average during the semester.

 

Salerno makes Dean’s List

Benji Salerno was named to the Dean’s List at Emory & Henry College for the Fall 2019 semester.

To qualify, students must earn a 3.6 GPA and have completed at least 12 credit hours during the semester. Salerno earned a 3.912 GPA for the semester and A’s in all six of his classes.

Salerno is a freshman at Emory & Henry College. He is majoring in exercise science, and his goal is to become a physical therapist. He is in the Pre-Health Program, and is one of 10 students selected for the college’s Doctor of Physical Therapy Early Assurance Program. He is also active in intramural sports, and his flag football team earned the college’s championship trophy.

 

Hamm named to Dean’s List

Emily Hamm of Suffolk, was named to the fall 2019 Dean’s List at Lasell University in Newton, Mass.

To be named to the Dean’s List, they needed to complete at least 12 credits as a full-time student and achieve a semester GPA of 3.5 or higher.
