Suffolk Police are investigating a fatal crash involving two passenger vehicles at Gates Road and Corinth Chapel Road, according to a city press release.

The crash was reported at 10:02 p.m., the press release stated.

One occupant was declared deceased at the scene. Two other people were taken to hospitals by ground ambulance for treatment of injuries not considered life-threatening.

The roadway will be closed for an extended period of time as the investigation continues. Suffolk Public Works crews are placing detour signs at Pineview Road and Gates Road.

The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. Suffolk Police are continuing their investigation.
