Sentara Healthcare is accepting material supply donations for its hospitals, as the health system continues to respond to the coronavirus pandemic. Sentara is only accepting material supplies at this time and not food donations, according to a Monday press release.

“Thank you to the many community partners and residents who have graciously agreed to donate supplies. We welcome your kindness,” the press release states.

According to the press release, Sentara Healthcare is working with several community organizations to help procure additional masks for its health care workers who are tirelessly fighting the spread of COVID-19, the disease that’s caused by the novel coronavirus.

One of these organizations is London Bridge Trading, a Virginia Beach-based protective clothing company that has “graciously agreed” to sew surgical masks using Cupron, Inc. materials, the press release states.

“In order for these masks to have the needed antimicrobial properties, they have to be sewn to meet certain criteria and unique specifications which is why London Bridge Trading has been asked to help,” the press release states.

Suffolk residents that want to donate can schedule a drop-off time and day at Sentara Obici Hospital, 2800 Godwin Blvd., by calling 934-4532. Donations may be scheduled at Sentara Hospitals Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
