Robert Louis Abbott, 91, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2020. He was a native of Louisburg, N.C.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Della Sue Abbott; nieces, JoAnne Abbott, of North Carolina, and Joan Abbott, of Suffolk; great-nephews, Johnnie W. Abbott Jr. and Herbert P. Abbott; great-nieces, Sherry Outland and Kim Gomer, all of Suffolk.

Robert retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Shop #31 as a machinist. He also owned his own business, Abbott’s Mower Repair, where he spent many hours talking, teaching and helping family and friends. He was a member of CrossPointe Church.

Special thanks for all the love, kindness and care provided by his caregivers Wendy, Kee-Kee, Terri and Rae, as well as the staff at Autumn Care.

A private graveside service will be held Thursday at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens with Pastor David Sexton officiating. R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, 509 W.
