Local COVID-19 cases jump 68 percent

COVID-19 cases took a big jump in the Western Tidewater Health District from Friday to Saturday.
There are now 47 cases in the district — 20 in Suffolk, 18 in Isle of Wight County, five in Southampton County and four in Franklin. The total is almost a 68-percent increase from Friday’s total of 28.
Across the state, there have been 2,407 total cases out of 21,552 people tested in Friday’s report. There have been 390 hospitalizations and 52 deaths.
