Tuesday’s report from the Virginia Department of Health shows a small increase of three COVID-19 cases in the Western Tidewater Health District.
The district now has 62 cases. Suffolk has 30 of those cases, with 23 in Isle of Wight County, five in Southampton County and four in Franklin. That represents two more in Suffolk and one more in Isle of Wight County from Monday’s report.
Statewide, cases rose almost 16 percent to 3,333, breaking 3,000 for the first time. There have been 63 deaths from the disease.
New statistics from the Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association show there are 589 patients currently hospitalized with confirmed COVID-19. An additional 594 people are in hospitals with pending COVID-19 test results.
About 408 with confirmed or pending test results are in the ICU, and 283 are on a ventilator, the hospital associated stated.
There are 692 total ventilators in use at hospitals across the state. That is 27 percent of ventilators on hand.
No numbers of recovered patients are available, as the Virginia Department of Health does not provide them.
