Suffolk Tourism announced its “Suffolk Farmer’s Market To-Go” this week, in lieu of the traditional Farmer’s Market that begins in downtown Suffolk this time of year.

Customers can start placing direct orders by either phone or email beginning April 28 from participating market vendors. Orders will then be collected on May 2 at the parking lot of the Suffolk Visitor Center, 524 N. Main St.

The Suffolk community can purchase garden-fresh fruits, vegetables, baked goods, jams, jellies, meats, poultry and personal care products from their favorite market vendors each Saturday. Customers can enjoy their typical market favorites, but with a new system that allows for safe social distancing during the coronavirus pandemic, according to the Tuesday press release.

“We can financially support these small businesses while enjoying their fresh and oftentimes unique offerings,” the press release states.

Product lists will be available every Tuesday at suffolkvafarmersmarket.com and facebook.com/SuffolkFarmersMarketVirginia. Order pick-ups are scheduled for Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon in a drive-through only process. Customers will circle through the Suffolk Visitor Center parking lot with vendors situated according to recommended social distancing safety practices.

Customers will enter and exit the parking lot using the East Constance Road access only. Pre-payment for orders is required, as no additional on-site sales, cash transactions or walk-up customers are allowed, the press release states.

The Suffolk Farmers’ Market will proceed as a regular market at the Suffolk Visitor Center — offering the typical farmers’ market products, as well as arts, crafts and additional items — once social distancing restrictions are relaxed. Visit facebook.com/SuffolkFarmersMarketVirginia for updates.
