Proms, homecoming games and graduations come to mind when thinking about the end of the school year, but this year, the class of 2020 will not get to experience these moments.

But not all is lost in these difficult times. With the help of the Suffolk Education Foundation and the Tribute platform, students are able to say thank you to their favorite teachers.

“The foundation learned about the Tribute platform and thought it was a great way for students to connect with teachers and bring some closure to the school year,” said Patrick Belcher who is the head of the foundation.

With Teacher Appreciation Week starting on May 4, the foundation was inspired by the creativity of schools across the globe showing videos of how much they missed their students.

“Everyone needs to connect during this time,” Belcher said.

The foundation’s website will add a Teacher Appreciation page and post the videos via social media for the educators to see their beloved students. Parents should also encourage students to share their appreciation as well.

Students can send gratitude to whomever they choose through the videos, whether it be resource teachers, custodians, teachers, principals or anyone else at the schools.

“We just ask that students hold a sign with the people they are thanking (and what school). This way we make sure we get the information correct,” Belcher said.

Whether you are in elementary, middle, high school or even in college, the Suffolk Education Foundation hopes you will show a teacher that you appreciate them for everything that they have done for you.
