While coloring, connecting dots and doing mazes, children are simultaneously learning about Suffolk’s attractions. In the activity book, children can color The Farmer’s Market and Mr. Peanut and find the bear in Dismal Swamp by connecting the dots.

While having an opportunity to get a glimpse of the most popular attractions that Suffolk has to offer, the activity book is fun and easy for children to learn more about Suffolk’s history and unique landscape.

Since most children are learning from home, this seemed like the perfect opportunity to get this project done with the help of Katie Kelley, tourism development specialist, who was able to use existing photographs to illustrate the coloring pages, said Theresa Earles, tourism development manager.

Earles hopes learning about Suffolk attractions will help families craft a must-see list for after the COVID-19 pandemic subsides.

“While I like the entire Suffolk activity book, I am partial to the Suffolk Visitor Center page since that, of course, is the Tourism office,” Earles said. “But if I had to choose an absolute favorite part, I’d say it’s the way we are able to share what we love about Suffolk with our citizens, reminding them of all the wonderful things our city has to offer.”

The printed books will be available inside the “Free Little Libraries” at the Suffolk Visitor Center, 524 N. Main St., and Seaboard Station Railroad Museum, 326 N. Main St. A downloadable copy of the book is available at issuu.com/cityofsuffolk/docs/suffolk_activity_book.
