Dominion Energy has restored power to 62% of the 508,000 customers in Virginia and North Carolina who lost power as a result of Tropical Storm Isaias, according to a press release from Dominion.

In Suffolk, 10,129 remain without power as of 8:30 p.m., according to Dominion’s outage map. Among Community Electric Cooperative members, only 31 in Suffolk remain without power.

Regionwide, 192,000 Dominion customers remained without power as of 6 p.m.

Initial assessments show Isaias ranks as the 10th largest and most damaging storm in Dominion Energy’s history, according to the release. That’s based on the number of customers who lost power.

Crews from the South Carolina Dominion Energy offices are lending a hand in Virginia and North Carolina, and crews from other utilities as far away as Oklahoma are also joining the power restoration effort, according to the press release.

Dominion is reminding customers of a couple of key topics:

• To ensure the fastest response, please report it if you lose power. The fastest way to report or track an outage is using the mobile app or online at DominionEnergy.com. Virginia and North Carolina customers are encouraged to download the Dominion Energy Outage Center app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store or call 1-866-DOM-HELP (1-866-366-4357) to report an outage.
• Beware of downed power lines. Assume they are energized and dangerous. Very high winds and rain can cause trees and branches to fall, which may bring down power lines. Stay at least 30 feet away and make sure your family, pets and neighbors also avoid the downed wire. Call Dominion Energy at 1-866-DOM-HELP (1-866-366-4357) right away to speak with an agent to report the downed wire.
