With 2020 halfway over, Christmas is just around the corner. Christmas Sponsorship 757 is in need of support and sponsors.

Christmas Sponsorship 757 is a nonprofit organization that helps connect families in need with families willing to help make sure children receive a gift Christmas morning. It serves cities across Hampton Roads, including Chesapeake, Portsmouth and Suffolk.

“Last year, we sponsored over 2,000 kids, but because of COVID-19, we are expecting that number to rise significantly to either 3,000 or 4,000,” said co-founder Savannah Avery.

Savannah and Kendra Avery founded Christmas Sponsorship 757 in 2016 to help local families across Hampton Roads.

There are many ways to help these families. The easiest way to get involved is by joining the Christmas Sponsorship page on Facebook. This page holds details on the current progress and needs of the organization.

Applications for families who need assistance will open on Sept. 20. There will be a post on the Facebook group announcing when it is open. Sponsors who would like to directly buy gifts for families can do so starting Nov. 1.

Toy donations can be dropped off at Ocean Storage on Northampton Boulevard in Virginia Beach. There are also wish lists for Target, Amazon and Walmart. Gifts can include baby toys, arts and crafts, books, puzzles, games and more. The age range is from 0 to 18.

Money donations can be placed for volunteers to shop. Donations can be placed on Cash App or GoFundMe. Local business have also partnered with Christmas Sponsors 757, including Morgan Outlaw Photography, Ocean Storage and Shannon Koren Scenty.

“I am very excited for Christmas this year,” said Avery. “It’s my absolute favorite time of the year, especially with this group.”
