The roadway in the 300 block of East Washington Street has been closed due to structural damage to a nearby building.

The intersection of Tynes and East Washington streets also is closed, according to a city press release.

The Suffolk Planning and Community Development Department determined that the building is structurally unsound, a city press release on Monday stated. The city originally said the damage was due to the Aug. 4 tornadoes spawned in the city by Tropical Storm Isaias, then later in the day said the structural issues were not storm-related.
