The co-founders of a Suffolk-based undergarment company donated laptops to five students in need for this virtual school year.

Lance Boothe and Tyler Mason grew up in Suffolk and co-founded Legacy Premium Brand in 2018. With the company’s growing success, the co-founders wanted to give back to their hometown.

“Since our company has become a success, we felt we felt we needed to share our success and give back,” said Lance Boothe, chief executive officer and founder of Legacy Premium Brand. “Since kids are home doing school, why not give some computers to the kids who need them?”

Legacy Premium Brand believes in setting the next person up for success in order to create a domino effect of building others up. Boothe and Mason knew that with school starting virtually this year, underprivileged families would face a setback.

“We knew we had to do something that counts,” said Boothe. “People donate school supplies all the time, but this year, these kids need computers.”

Boothe and Mason were paired with five Suffolk students with ages ranging from 9 to 12 who needed laptops for the upcoming school year.

In a small gathering with the students and their families, Boothe gave the five young girls brand new laptops for school in front of the Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts. These girls were Rhianna Leary, 11; Ebony Roberts, 11; Alasia Williams, 10; Joelee Holmes, 11; and Shavaghun Johnson, 10.

“It’s all about creating something and then coming back to your community to create opportunities,” said Boothe.

Boothe said he could not have done this without his co-founder’s help. Mason is currently living in Washington, D.C., and arranged most of it from there. Boothe currently lives in Virginia Beach. Even though their dreams have taken them out of Suffolk, they never forgot where they came from.
