Who had “six weeks with no Chick-fil-A” on your 2020 bingo card?

Chick-fil-A on Main Street, located at 1018 N. Main St., will close its doors for approximately six weeks as the restaurant expands its kitchen and drive-through to serve guests more efficiently. Its last day of business is Sept. 3 before the renovations start.

“The Chick-fil-A Main Street remodel will feature a new design that will offer a more comfortable environment for both guests and team members,” said owner and operator Nicki Digby-Dalton. “Guests will enjoy an elevated, more convenient dining experience while team members can expect a larger, more accommodating kitchen space.”

Since COVID-19 has closed Chick-fil-A dining rooms across the country, there is no telling when everyone will be able to enjoy the nice new interior. However, there is another change that all will be able to enjoy right away — a double-lane drive-through.

“Our iPad order points will be covered by canopies and will include heaters and fans to ensure a safe environment for our guests and team members,” said a statement from Chick-fil-A Inc.

Currently, tents and cones are set in the parking lot to direct guests into separate lanes. Now, a permanently divided lane will officially lead the guest to the correct speaker boxes. The awning will have heaters and fans to give a bit of relief to the order takers who are outside to serve guests throughout the year.

As there is no reopening date set, Chick-fil-A Main Street stated in a Facebook post that the store’s social media will keep folks up to date on the progress. Soon everyone will be sipping their shakes and dipping their fries at the renovated location.

“As the local owner, I’m excited to serve the community the same delicious food in a new and improved environment,” said Digby-Dalton.
