James “Jimmy” Ward Jr., 59, went to be with the Lord on Aug. 29, 2020. He was the son of the late James L. Ward Sr., and Jerry D. Ward. He is predeceased by a stepson, Jacob A. Daughtrey; sisters, Linda K. Griffin and Debra K. Welge.

Jimmy was proud to have served our country in the U.S. Marine Corps and recently retired from Unilever Lipton Tea.

Some of Jimmy’s fondest memories were spending time with his family and friends on the beach, camping and by his backyard pool, where he was proud to have taught his grandson to swim.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 26 years, Linda H. Ward; stepdaughter, Amanda K. Daughtrey; grandson, Tristan E. Johnson; sisters, Karen K. Branche (Bill) and Gale K. Wright (Steve); and many more loving family members and friends.

A visitation will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, at R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory. A private service will be held at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bethlehem Christian Church, 1549 Holland Road.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the many friends who have provided meals and comfort over the past few months.
