No one was injured following an overnight, single-vehicle accident involving an overturned tractor-trailer in the 5400 block of Godwin Boulevard near Chuckatuck.

The accident happened just after 1 a.m. Nov. 13, according to a city news release. The truck was carrying 160 to 180 hogs, and Smithfield Foods sent a response team to the scene. At this time, the number of injured or dead animals is unknown. The driver was not injured.

That part of Godwin Boulevard remained closed for several hours through about 10:45 a.m. Nov. 13 as the company’s response team assesses the situation and the 18-wheel truck is uprighted.

Suffolk Police and. Suffolk Fire and Rescue responded to the accident.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
