Man dies in Saturday night shooting

A man died in a shooting that happened at the Wawa on Godwin Boulevard Saturday evening.

Suffolk Police are investigating the shooting at the Wawa in the 2900 block of Godwin Boulevard. The shooting was reported about 6 p.m., according to a city press release.

Suffolk Police responded to the location in relation to the report of shots fired and, shortly after reaching the scene, were advised that a male victim had arrived at a local hospital with life-threatening gunshot wounds and was later pronounced deceased, the press release stated.

The incident remains under investigation. The name of the victim is being withheld until next of kin have been notified. No additional information is available for release.
