A group of churches is making sure that the Holland area will have what they need to have a full Christmas dinner.

A food giveaway will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. Dec. 19 at Holland Ballpark, 6720 Ruritan Road.

The Holland Ministerial Alliance is putting this giveaway together. The Holland Ministerial Alliance consists of 14 local churches in Holland who are coming together to share the love of Jesus in the Holland area regardless of denomination. This giveaway will be the first in the Holland area like it.

“I’ve lived in Holland my whole life, and I can’t remember anything like this happening,” said Josh Worrell, head of the food giveaway. “Many need assistance with food this year, and we want to be a blessing to them.”

The Holland Ministerial Alliance has prepared 275 meals to distribute in this drive-through event. There are 50 of these boxes set aside for those who are in need but cannot come out due to health reasons on the day of the giveaway. The pastors of their church will personally deliver the boxes to their door. This leaves 225 for the ballpark to hand out to those who come.

The boxes will include a turkey breast, macaroni and cheese, potatoes, corn, stuffing, cranberry sauce, pies and other foods to complete a Christmas dinner.

“It’s basically enough for a Christmas dinner, whether it’s on Christmas or not,” said Worrell. “It gives the opportunity for families to sit down and have a meal together.”

The Holland Ministerial Alliance started this food giveaway to give back to the community in this time of need and show the love of Jesus Christ.

“This is a great opportunity for people to see different churches, not outdoing each other, but coming together to glorify God and show His love,” said Worrell.
