Mavis Burchett Bateman, 93, of Gates, N.C., passed away Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2020, at her home. She was a native of Jonesville, Va. She was predeceased by her parents, Grace Quinley Burchett and Orbin Roy Burchett. She retired from Suffolk Quality Cleaners of W. Washington Street with more than 40 years of service.

Left to cherish her memory are two sons, William Bateman (Lynn) and Gary Bateman (Marjorie); a daughter, Cathy Stillman; grandchildren, Lisa Bateman, Steven Bateman, David Bateman, Kevin Bateman and Melissa Stillman; great-grandchildren, Jordyn, Janiah, Christian, Brooklyn and Karson.
