Two dogs died in a house fire in the 200 block of Widgeon Court in the Burnetts Mill neighborhood on Monday afternoon.

The fire was reported at 1:59 p.m., according to a city press release. Crews arrived at 2:05 p.m. to find smoke and fire showing from the home. The fire was marked under control at 2:26 p.m.

Firefighters located two dogs inside the home and carried them outside, but the dogs died as a result of their injuries, the press release stated. There were no injuries reported at the scene, and no occupants were inside at the time of the fire.

Two adults and one child were displaced as a result of the fire. They will be assisted by family in the area.

The Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause.
