Firefighters on scene of large brush fire

Suffolk Fire & Rescue crews are currently on scene of a large working brush fire in the 7700 block of Crittenden Road.

Emergency Communications was contacted at 1:16 p.m. advising of a fire involving a large section of bulldozed trees and debris, and the first units arrived on scene in the remote area at 1:32 p.m.

Multiple Suffolk Fire & Rescue units and tankers remain on scene, in addition to mutual aid assistance provided by several neighboring jurisdictions. Additionally, crews from the Virginia Department of Forestry are on scene.

The remote location is surrounded by open land, and there is no danger of any impact to any residences in the area.
