On Saturday, Feb. 20, 2021, God called one of his precious jewels, Tinsley “Bro” Johnson Jr., to his eternal home. Educated in Suffolk Public Schools, Tinsley was a former employee of the Tidewater Occupational Center before his health began to decline. Born to the late Tinsley and Erleen Rebecca Madison Johnson, he is survived by his sister, Bettie J. Swain of Suffolk; brother, Calvin (Felicia) Johnson of Suffolk; sister-in-law, Deatrice A. Kee Johnson of Suffolk; nephew, Calvin Antonio Lewis of Chesapeake; niece, Nekita K. Swain of Georgia; great-nephew, Sean Preston Foster of Georgia and a host of cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his youngest brother, David Lee Johnson and maternal grandparents, Bennie L. and Pinkie F. Madison. A graveside funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 5, at the Oak Grove Cemetery with the Rev. Canon Frederick W. Walker, Rector of St. James’ Episcopal Church-Portsmouth, officiating.
