Hogan named to Dean’s List

Kelly Elizabeth Hogan has been named to the Fall 2020 Dean’s List. Hogan is from Suffolk.

To be named to the Dean’s List, a student must be enrolled for at least 12 semester hours of graded courses and attain a semester grade point average of 3.6 or higher.

 

Creasy administers vaccine

Megan Creasy was one of several pharmacy students to volunteer to vaccinate the community at the mass-vaccination clinic held at Shenandoah’s Wilkins Athletics & Events Center. The clinic has vaccinated thousands of individuals. Creasy, from Suffolk, is pursuing a degree in traditional pharmacy.

 

Dean graduates from Troy University

Nadja Dean, of Suffolk, graduated from Troy University during Term 3 of the 2020/2021 academic year.

Dean graduated with the Master of Science in Human Resource Management degree while attending Troy Online.

 

Local residents earn degree from WGU

The following Suffolk residents have earned a degree from Western Governors University. The online, nonprofit university has graduated over 218,000 students from across the country since its inception in 1997.

  • Carin Fransee received a Bachelor of Science, Nursing.
  • Victoria Pratko received a Bachelor of Science, Nursing.

 

Local resident earns award from WGU

Katherine Bland, of Suffolk, earned an Award of Excellence at Western Governors University. The award is given to students who perform at a superior level in their coursework.

Bland studies in the College of Business.

 

Saunders honored at University of Kansas

More than 7,100 undergraduate students at the University of Kansas earned honor roll distinction for the fall 2020 semester.

Lauren Saunders, of Suffolk, College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, was so honored.

The honor roll includes undergraduates who meet requirements in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences and in the schools of Architecture & Design, Business, Education, Engineering, Health Professions, Journalism & Mass Communications, Music, Nursing, Pharmacy and Social Welfare. Honor roll criteria vary among the university’s academic units. Some schools honor the top 10% of students enrolled, some establish a minimum grade-point average, and others raise the minimum GPA for each year students are in school. Students must complete a minimum number of credit hours to be considered for the honor roll.

 

Patel inducted into Phi Kappa Phi

Vaishali Patel, of Suffolk, was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society. Patel was initiated at Nova Southeastern University.

Patel is among approximately 30,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10% of seniors and 7.5% of juniors are eligible for membership. Graduate students in the top 10% of the number of candidates for graduate degrees may also qualify, as do faculty, professional staff and alumni who have achieved scholarly distinction.
