Susie Ann Brown, 81, of Suffolk, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 26, 2021.

She was born to parents Paul E. Smith and Katherine C. Smith in Greenville, W.Va. As a child she enjoyed working on the farm, playing the piano and playing basketball.

She graduated from Greenville High School in 1957 and went on to study at Chesapeake & Ohio Hospital School of Nursing, graduating as a registered nurse.

Susie worked as a registered nurse for several years at DePaul Hospital, Virginia Beach General, Providence Hospital, and the Upjohn Company.

Susie met her husband and soulmate, Donald C. Brown, in 1958. They were married on May 25, 1959, in North Carolina. Together they raised three children: Donald Scott, Darren Keith, Diane Michelle.

In addition to being a dedicated and loving wife and mother, Susie also enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, bird watching and following her children’s and grandchildren’s sports and activities.

Susie joins her father, Paul Smith; her mother, Katherine Smith; and her sister, Sandra Mann, who have already passed and are in Heaven.

Susie is survived by her devoted husband of 62 years, Donald Brown; her son, Scott Brown, and grandchildren, PJ and Dylan; her son Darren, Brown (Lisa) and grandchildren, Ethan and Mason; her daughter Diane Morris (Brian) and grandchildren Ryan (Paige) and Zachary; her great-granddaughter, Ava Grace Morris; sisters-in-law, Sue Wills and Kathy Campbell (Wayne); and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family has entrusted Groves-Mann Funeral Home with the arrangements. A graveside service is scheduled for Wednesday, March 31. Ryan H. Morris will officiate the ceremony. There will also be a celebration of life on July 18, 2021, at Magnolia United Methodist Church.
