The S. Delois Mayes Scholarship Foundation recently announced a total of $16,000 in scholarships awarded this year.

Brooke Barnes and Marcus Green were awarded general scholarships. Emma Joyner and Madison Kenyon were awarded the Rosie Ellis-Fields medical scholarships. Each award is $4,000.

Barnes, a graduating senior at King’s Fork High School, plans to attend the University of Virginia.

Green, a graduating senior at Nansemond River High School, plans to attend Virginia Commonwealth University.

Joyner, a King’s Fork High School graduating senior, plans to attend Christopher Newport University.

Kenyon, a Nansemond River High School graduating senior, plans to attend Longwood University.
