To the editor:

The COVID pandemic has exposed so much of what is wrong with our economy. A lot of our working class has known this for a long time. We were in a housing crisis, our working class was paid too little, our teachers earned far less than they should, and our small businesses were barely surviving. And that was before the pandemic.

Now, as people are forced out of work and our small businesses are closing by the thousands, people are finally paying attention to the problems we’ve faced for a long time. But to get solutions to these issues, we need to turn to someone with experience and who knows the struggle.

Jennifer Carroll Foy knows what it’s like to not be able to afford crucial medicine or housing. She knows what it’s like to not know where her next paycheck was coming from. She understands the struggle of our working families. As a judge and public defender, she saw that the poorest people were the ones rotting in jail waiting for trial, even if they were innocent. And she acted to fix it.

She ran for the House of Delegates, passed new small business legislation, a Medicaid expansion, and wrote legislation to help create alternative pathways to employment and technical education. She’s also the only candidate whose economic plan actually focuses on our working class, their families and small businesses. Foy fights for those who need our support.
