Allie Sue (Hatton) Spring, 80, went to be with the Lord on June 3, 2021, peacefully in her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Greenville, N.C. to the late Iris Vincent and Edgar R. Hatton Sr. She is predeceased by her brother, Ed Hatton Jr. Sue was raised in Norfolk and attended Maury High School; moved to the Western Branch area of Chesapeake, where she raised her five children, and later settled in Suffolk. She was a passionate and active member of Main Street United Methodist Church in Suffolk. Her involvement included Helping Hands, United Methodist Women and Meals on Wheels. She believed her greatest accomplishment was being a mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Sue was a self-taught seamstress and an avid cook, baker and gardener. She was a friend and mother to many and those who met her loved her.

Sue is survived by her loving children, Eddie Spring (Gwyn), April Spring (Alex), Susie Plumlee (Rick), Nancy Parker (Pete) and Holly Wilson (Corey); grandchildren, Daniel Spring (Jackie), Michael Parker (Cortney), Tiffany Sutton (Kyle), Allie Powers, Brandon Wilson and Emily Plumlee (Tyler); eight great-grandchildren; sister, JoAnn Caffee (Jerry-decd.); and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Sue’s celebration of life will be 2 p.m., Sunday, June 6, at Main Street United Methodist Church with Pastor Rich Meiser officiating. The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Main Street United Methodist Church, 202 N. Main St., Suffolk, VA 23434.
