Sylvia Bradshaw Funkhouser, 87, passed away on June 23, 2021, in Sentara Obici Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Roy Ulysses Bradshaw and Louise Cook Bradshaw and was also predeceased by her first husband, Richard S. Butler Jr.

Sylvia was a graduate of Newsoms High School and Longwood College. She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church in Suffolk.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 39 years, Robert William Funkhouser; her children, Deborah A. Butler, Cathy B. Daughtrey (Bobby), Richard S. “Rick” Butler III (Torri), Kay F. Adams (Carter) and Susan F. Lawrence (Leck); nine grandchildren, Jason, Josh, Jake, Claire, Anne-Tyler, Michael, Parke, Clayton and Sheldon; and one great-grandson, Archer, plus another on the way.

A private graveside service will be held on Sunday, June 27, in Hollywood Cemetery with the Rev. Richard L. Meiser Jr. officiating. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to a charity of your choice. Visit wrightfuneralhome.org.
