Man killed in train accident

Suffolk Police and Suffolk Fire & Rescue units responded to the scene of a fatal accident involving a Norfolk Southern train and a pedestrian that occurred Thursday morning in the area of North 10th Street in the Lloyd Place neighborhood.

Preliminary investigation found that an adult male, whose age and identity unknown at this time, was crossing the tracks in an area without a crossing when the accident occurred, according to a city press release. It was reported at 2:05 a.m. The train stopped and did not derail. No other injuries were reported.

As the investigation continues, the train is blocking the area of North Capital Street and Railroad Avenue.
