Beverly Horton Adams, 83, of Corapeake, N.C., passed away on Thursday, Aug. 26, 2021. He was born on July 27, 1938, to the late Owen and Akra Adams. He is also preceded in death by his brothers, Jerry Adams and Bobby R. Adams.

Beverly was a retired sergeant in the United States Army. He served during the Vietnam War in the 7th Calvary and 101st Airborne Division. Sgt. Adams fought in the Battle of la Drang Valley and was honored with a Bronze Star as a decoration of bravery. He was a soldier who had the heart of a saint and the guts of Patton. Beverly was very giving to everyone and had a wonderful heart. He will be missed by many.

He is survived by his siblings, Jean Perry Farmer, Glenda Dawson, Diane Stallworth and Cynthia Moegenberg; stepchildren, Michale Benton and Mary Lou Benton; caregiver and nephew, Jeffrey Perry (Denise); and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2021, at R.W. Baker Funeral & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, 509 W. Washington St., Suffolk, VA 23434. Visitation will take place prior to the service at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. Online condolences may be registered at RWBakerFH.com.
