Tickets are $35, with cash or checks payable to Suffolk Ruritan Club only. The ticket covers all-you-can-eat seasoned shrimp, barbecue, coleslaw, iced tea and adult beverages, with Island Boy providing live music. Suffolk Ruritan Club printed only 2,500 tickets, and none will be sold at the gate.

“Sales are hot,” said Sheriff E.C. Harris. “There’s a strong possibility that we will sell out.”

Shrimp Feast is an annual fundraiser by the Suffolk Ruritan Club. All money raised goes back to charities in Suffolk. Most of the money raised goes toward scholarships for high school seniors.

According to Harris, after nearly 40 years of Shrimp Feast, the Suffolk Ruritan Club has raised around $3 million since its start. Each year the club donates around $50,000, with almost all of it staying in Suffolk.

“We really appreciate the public that attends,” said Harris. “It allows us to really give back, especially with scholarships for graduating seniors.”

After canceling last year’s event due to COVID-19, the club needs Suffolk to come out and have fun while supporting a good cause. The Suffolk Ruritan Club will also have T-shirts for this year’s event that honor club members who have passed in recent past months.

“We didn’t have one last year, which makes this year very important,” said Harris. “There’s a lot of charitable organizations out there struggling right now.”

Tickets are sold at numerous locations across the city, including Suffolk Visitor Center, Ricky and Roy’s, Major Signs, Line-X of Suffolk, Suffolk BBQ, Citizens Bank in Windsor, Carts Unlimited and Mike Duman Auto Sales. Visit tinyurl.com/SuffolkShrimpFeast21 for more information.
