Two buses collided in the parking lot of Nansemond Parkway Elementary School on Tuesday morning.

The accident was reported at 9:02 a.m., according to a city press release. The involved buses had a total of 25 students on board.

One of the bus drivers was evaluated at the scene by Suffolk Fire & Rescue personnel, and she was ground transported to a local hospital for further medical observation, the press release stated.

Following initial assessment by Suffolk Fire & Rescue personnel and determination by school administration, the involved students reported to school, with the exception of six students that were awaiting arrival of their parents/guardians to determine if they desired medical transport or if they wished to transport their children for potential further medical observation.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
