A bicyclist was taken to the hospital in critical condition following a wreck Wednesday afternoon.

Suffolk Police and Suffolk Fire & Rescue responded to the intersection of East Washington and 10th streets at 1:51 p.m., according to a city press release. The incident involved the bicyclist and a passenger vehicle.

The woman received emergency medical assessment and treatment by Suffolk Fire & Rescue personnel and was taken by ground ambulance to a local hospital in critical condition.

The intersection remains closed at this time as the investigation is ongoing. Detours are currently in place.
