A winter storm that has brought precipitation and wind has knocked out power to quite a few Suffolkians.

In Suffolk, about 3,642 Dominion Energy customers are without power — about 9% of its customers in the city. Community Electric Cooperative did not report any of its approximately 3,500 customers in Suffolk without power.

Outages in Suffolk include a large swath of downtown as well as much of White Marsh Road.

Power outages are affecting traffic signals around the city, including some in the North Main Street area. Motorists are encouraged to proceed with caution and limit travel today.

Due to the weather-related power outage, the East Suffolk Recreation Center, 138 S. Sixth St., and Suffolk Parks & Recreation Administration Office, 134 S. Sixth St., will be closed the remainder of Monday.

The Suffolk Visitor Center, 524 N. Main St., is also closing operations for the day due to a power outage.
