Police investigate second carjacking of the week

Suffolk Police are investigating a carjacking that was reported Saturday morning and looking into the possibility it is related to one on Wednesday.

The incident occurred in the 6700 block of Duck Landing Court at about 5:45 a.m., according to a press release from the Suffolk Police Department.

A woman was outside her vehicle when she was approached by three male offenders, one of whom displayed a handgun and demanded her keys. One of the suspects drove away in her 2018 Dodge Journey, while the others left in a blue crossover/SUV.

The victim was not injured during the incident.

Saturday’s incident is the second carjacking this week. The first occurred at 4:38 p.m. Wednesday in the 6100 block of Brookwood Drive. It is about five minutes away from Duck Landing Court.

In that incident, the 36-year-old male victim was reluctant to give up his vehicle and was shot by one of the suspects. He was taken to a hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening. The suspects in the Wednesday incident also were described as three males in a blue crossover/SUV.

“We are looking into the possibility they are related,” Acting Deputy Chief Mark Erie stated in an email on Saturday.

The investigation remains ongoing at this time, and there is no further information available for release.
