Suffolk man found safe

UPDATE: Norman Fletcher was located safely early Saturday morning by the Isle of Wight Sheriff’s Office. The Suffolk Police Department thanked everyone for their assistance.

Earlier: The Suffolk Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a missing man.

Norman Fletcher, 83, left his residence in Suffolk around 11 a.m. Friday and was thought to be heading to the 500 block of East Washington Street, according to a Suffolk Police Department press release. He never arrived at his destination.

He does not have a cell phone, and there has been no contact since he went missing. Fletcher is driving a silver 2008 Lexus EX350 with Virginia tags of JMM-8980. The vehicle was last seen eastbound on Mercury Boulevard in Hampton at approximately 5:51 p.m. Fletcher has a medical condition and requires medication.
