Della Barnes, of Suffolk, born Nov. 22, 1961, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 9, 2022. She was the daughter of Effie L. Barnes and the late Floyd T. Barnes. She was preceded in death by her five brothers, Lenbyrd, Larry, Johnny Ray, Jeffery and Floyd Jr.
She is survived by her mother Effie Barnes; her son Antoine “Butta” Barnes and his wife Tina; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; four sisters, Sarah, Gloria, Brenda and Jenette (Edward); five brothers, Ricky, Thomas Lee (Shireen), Dale (Brenda), Lloyd and Quinton (LaShawn). A host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Della was also affectionately known as “Ma Della” by many people who she fed and counseled in her own way. We will miss her.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, at Tynes Street Park if the weather permits. If the weather does not permit, the family will await Della’s headstone and have a private service at the Collins Family Cemetery upon its arrival.
