Robert “Bob” Thomas Maguire, 80, of Wakefield, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2022. He was the son of the late Robert D. Maguire and Darlene Cole Maguire Brashier. He was predeceased by his stepfather and best friend, Gilbert L. Brashier.
Bob was a United States Navy Veteran and served during Vietnam. He retired from Newport News Shipyard after 33 years of service as a welder. In his spare time, he loved watching NASCAR and was a Tony Stewart fan. He was also a gardener and loved nature.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Joann Maguire; daughters, Shawn Gardner (Gerry), Nicole Rodgers; their mother, Carole Maguire O’Keeffe; stepson, William Arnold; grandchildren, Sara Divett (Brennan), Emma Debien (Eric), Leah Maguire (Colt), Rachel Reed (Antonio); great-grandchildren, Genesis, Audrey, Tuff, Porter and Camille.
A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. on Feb. 8, at Albert G. Horton Jr. Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Vietnam Veterans of America. R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home, Wakefield Chapel is serving the family. Condolences may be posted at RWBakerFH.com.
