Robert J. Hitt Jr., 61, of Gates, N.C. passed away on Jan. 17, 2022. He was preceded in death by his mother, Regina Weatherly Hitt.

Bobby was an army veteran, a member of Suffolk #30 Masonic Lodge and a Shriner of the Khedive Temple and the Hillbilly Unit. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts Troop 1 of Suffolk. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid Alabama football team.

He is survived by his father, Robert J. Hitt Sr.; daughter, Melissa Kackley (Josh); sons, Sean Hitt (Ashley) and Scott Hitt; long term partner, Dawn Davis; sisters, Carrie Hoag (Rick) and Colleen Pearson (Richard); brothers, Mark Hitt and Chris Hitt (Mary) and his four-legged companions, Gypsy and Opie.

A celebration of life with masonic rites will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 4, at R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, Downtown Suffolk Chapel. Interment will follow at 3 p.m. at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery with military honors.
