Attic fire extinguished late Saturday

Suffolk Fire & Rescue responded late Saturday to reports of smoke inside of a residential structure in the 6200 block of Harewood Lane.

Emergency Communications was contacted at 11:05 p.m., and the first fire unit arrived on scene at 11:13 p.m.

First arriving units found a two-story house with a working fire in the attic area. Fire crews confirmed all occupants were out of the residence then quickly located and extinguished the fire in the attic area. The attic sustained moderate smoke and fire damage with no extension to the main living area of the home.

No reported injuries to firefighters or civilians. The four occupants were not displaced and will be staying at the residence.

The Fire Marshal’s Office is currently investigating the cause of the fire.

Engine 25, Engine 5, Engine 10, Ladder 5, Rescue 1, EMS 2, Safety 1, Battalion 2, Battalion 3, Car 1, Chesapeake Ladder 10, Chesapeake Engine 12, and Medic 5 responded to the incident.
