Would you love to grow fruits, vegetables, and flowers in a community garden?

The Community Garden at the East Suffolk Recreation Center provides a place to garden for those who seek one, and Suffolk Parks & Recreation is offering a wonderful opportunity to adopt a bed for the 2022 growing season.

The intent of the Community Garden is to establish a space that encourages producing nutritious food while creating opportunities for healthful outdoor exercise, recreation and horticultural therapy.

The garden beds at East Suffolk Recreation Center are more than 10 feet long, 3 ½ feet wide, raised 1 ½ feet high, and are filled with compost and soil. The beds are free for adoption and, due to the limited number, are assigned by first available. Adoptees can grow fruits, vegetables and flowers as long as they agree to maintain their bed throughout the year. Adoption is open to any individual, group or organization that resides in Suffolk. New and experienced gardeners are welcome.
