While experiencing the third year of teaching in a pandemic, a local teacher wrote a book that offers help to other educators facing similar struggles and discouragement.

Pamela Hall has a new book called “Be Their Warrior: Helping All Students Succeed Through Culture, Community and Being STRONG” to help teachers during this challenging time in teaching.

Hall is a Suffolk resident who teaches engineering at Carrollton Elementary School. She has taught for 33 years and loves what she does. She goes into work ready to work with her students and make a difference in their lives. However, this was not always the case. Like many other teachers, teaching during the pandemic has not been an easy ride.

“I almost left teaching,” Hall said. “It got me thinking that there has to be a way to stop this. I’ve been able to move on and am more fired up now than I ever was. I’m not burned out as many are, but I definitely was.”

Wanting to help other educators, Hall remembered being told to write what she knows. She decided to write what she had been through and learned throughout her years of teaching to help others. She has often been called a champion for kids, so she sat back and thought about how she could help others do the same.

“My main purpose for this book is to give teachers hope and help and to help them with strategies to be able to provide help for all the kids they work with,” said Hall.

The book is about reaching all children, no matter their background or disabilities. It has strategies to help the students through culture and encourage their relationships with other students, the community and their families. The main points make up the acrostic STRONG.

Hall also shares stories from her experiences while teaching. The names are changed for privacy, but she hopes these stories will help teachers know they are not alone and there is hope.

“It’s not about selling books, but spreading hope and help to those who work with kids and teenagers,” said Hall.

The book is available in paperback and e-reader from Amazon, Barnes & Noble or from the publisher.
