A Suffolk resident is bringing a new smell of confidence and luxury to Hampton Roads.

Damian Revel opened his own cologne business, Legend’s Avenue. According to Revel, Legend’s Avenue is a path or place to achieve goals and leave unforgettable impressions on others.

This project has been in the works for a while, as he originally planned to market his first scent in March 2020 with its release in June. However, he delayed the release due to the pandemic and over a year later dropped his first scent, Addiction, in October 2021, selling over 100 bottles through his online store.

“It surpassed my expectations, especially with the pandemic,” he said. “With the economy the way it is, I didn’t think people were still buying that kind of stuff.”

Ever since Revel was young, cologne has been a part of his daily routine when getting ready. He loves when people stop him and compliment him on smelling good. Knowing what a boost of confidence it provides, he wants to enable others to do so as well.

“I wanted to create a brand that would redefine luxury and for people to feel confident,” said Revel. “When people stop you and say, ‘hey, you smell nice,’ it boosts you up just like it would if someone complimented your hair or outfit. I wanted to provide that.”

Revel has more scents in the works as he plans to release two more colognes this summer and fall. He will release Magnum Opus, which is Latin for great work, and CHESS, which stands for charming, handsome, elegant, successful and sexy. He also plans to drop his first perfume for women called Love Affair.

As he looks at how to move his company forward, Revel wants to expand his product line. He hopes to get more into perfumes as well as make candles and room diffusers.

To make these scents, Revel works with an American-based perfumer to put together different essential oils and smells to create something new. After letting it macerate, or properly age, Revel tests the different options and has others give their opinions on which one is best.

“I usually have an idea of which one I am going to choose,” he said. “But I want to have other people help make that final decision.”
