The Suffolk Department of Public Works wants input from residents, business owners and other stakeholders about flooding within the community to identify flood mitigation projects and develop a Resilience Plan focused on reduced flooding and increased resiliency.

The Resilience Plan will allow the city to apply for Virginia Community Flood Preparedness Fund grants to partially fund identified projects.

The survey continues through March 31 and can be found at  https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Y2PFBHQ. It includes 13 questions, asking people to assess the impact of flooding on their property and community, and it also asks whether people would want flooding information on traffic or mapping apps, whether they would want roadway flooding sensors and physical warning devices or whether the city should consider buying conservation or drainage easements on properties people own to help reduce flooding.
