Suffolk could see flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall of up to 3 inches today, the National Weather Service advised in issuing a Flood Watch for the area.

The watch continues until 6 p.m. as the remnants of a storm system that battered the Deep South on Monday and Tuesday drenches the East Coast and moves out to sea.

While the system has weakened and no tornadoes are expected, strong wind gusts are possible.
