Police took one person into custody following a short pursuit of a stolen vehicle.

The Suffolk Police Department was advised by the Southampton County Sheriff’s Office of a stolen vehicle in the area of eastbound Route 58/Holland Road, Thursday, March 31. Emergency Dispatch was notified of the incident at 2:14 p.m.

Suffolk Police were able to locate the vehicle and attempted to stop the vehicle when the driver refused to stop and fled from Police. A short vehicle pursuit ensued in the area of eastbound Route 58/Holland Road, according to a city press release.

The vehicle was subsequently found abandoned in a neighborhood off Pitchkettle Road. After a brief search, the suspect was located and taken into custody without incident.

The investigation is ongoing.
