Cement mixer involved in accident on Holy Neck Road

Suffolk Police and Suffolk Fire & Rescue responded Friday afternoon to a two-vehicle accident in the 6100 block of Holy Neck Road

Dispatchers were notified of the incident at 1:11 p.m.

The accident involved a cement mixer, which overturned, and a passenger vehicle. The driver of the cement mixer had to be extricated from the vehicle.

Following medical assessment and treatment by Suffolk Fire & Rescue personnel, the patient was being transported by Nightingale to an area hospital with possible life-threatening injuries. The driver of the passenger vehicle was evaluated at the scene and refused medical treatment.

The roadway was closed in both directions as of 2:20 p.m. and would remain closed indefinitely, city officials said in a news release. Public Works crews were asked to set up detours.
