Elaine Askew Eason gained her heavenly wings on Saturday, April 9, 2022. She was a 1975 graduate of Suffolk High School and received an Associates Degree in Secretarial Science in 1977 from Tidewater Community College. She was employed at Planter’s Peanut and eventually retired from Elevare in 1995. She was a member of Antioch UCC where she enjoyed serving as the financial secretary for many years. She was an active member of the Hall Place Community serving in several capacities over the years. She loved people and people loved her. She loved hosting cookouts for her community in her backyard, loved music and loved to dance. 

She goes to join her father, Eloyed Askew and her baby sister, Terryne Askew Watts. She leaves to cherish her memory, spouse, Walter Eason; an adoring mother, Mary M. Askew; an extraordinary daughter, Salena Askew (Washington, D.C.); sister, Delores ‘DD’ Rawlings; two brothers, Lloyd ‘Marc’ Askew (Raleigh, NC), Edward ‘Shed Rock’ Askew (Suffolk); two stepsons, Donald Eason (Suffolk), Arnold Eason (Sunbury, N.C.); Yvonne Eason (Sunbury, N.C.), Cheryl Hawk (Tracey) (Suffolk); Two uncles whom she cherished, Theodore Goins (Michelle) and Taylor Jones (Philadelphia, Pa.); a loving niece, Ashley Askew; nephew, Derrick Dillard; four great-nieces, three great-nephews and a host of step-grandchildren, cousins, family and friends. She will be truly missed.

A memorial service will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Friday, April 15, at Harris Funeral Home, 685 Carolina Road. There will be no public viewing.
