Our beloved, Ellen H. Abbott, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2022, at her home. She was 81 years old.

Mrs. Abbott was born Ellen Margaret Perry on May 30, 1940, to Edward H. Perry, Sr. and Elizabeth G. Perry. She graduated from Norview High School and held a variety of jobs over the years but her greatest joy and cherished position in life was devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  Ellen was also a member of Wilroy Baptist Church where she served as a first and second grade Sunday school teacher, a “Builder’s for Christ” mission team member, an actor for the Christmas panorama, member of the senior ladies’ Sunday School class, and food ministry volunteer.

She is predeceased by her parents, a son, a stepdaughter, a step-granddaughter, a grandson and a brother-in-law.

She is survived by her husband, Oscar L. Abbott of 46 years; daughters, Mary Blair, Margaret Hobbs (Martin); stepdaughter, Edna Lane; sons, Mark Harrell (Christine), James “Matt” Harrell (Deborah), William “Billy” Abbott (Heather); stepson, Selvyn Abbott (Nikki); grandchildren, Jeremy Richeal (Kristina), Danilo Blair (Tanya), Justin Harrell (BobbieJean), Megan Harrell, Elizabeth Hobbs, Joshua Harrell, Alexis Abbott, Nahla Harrell; step-grandchildren, Samantha Tiemann (Eddie), Terry Lane (Stephanie), Tahlal Jones (Cathy), Isaiah Shehan (Amanda); sister, Anne Keast; brother, Edward H. Perry Jr. (Frances); sisters-in-law, Zelda Lang (Robert “Red”), Beckie Abbott; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 7, at Parr Funeral Home and Crematory with Pastor Tim Rawls officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the American Diabetes Foundation or a charitable organization of your choice.
